There are wedding venues. And then there are venues that actually do something — places where the setting works with you, not against you, where the energy of the land becomes part of the story.
Retreat 21 is the second kind.
I’ve photographed weddings at Retreat 21 in Marysville, Ohio, and every single time I show up to that property, I feel it. The 64 acres. The rolling meadows. The vineyard. The way the light moves differently out there than it does anywhere else in central Ohio. It’s a place that brings energy before your wedding even starts — and that’s exactly the kind of backdrop I want to be shooting in.
Retreat 21 isn’t just a venue — it’s a whole experience. It’s an all-inclusive destination wedding spot just outside Columbus, and it’s built for couples who want their wedding weekend to feel like more than a single afternoon in a banquet hall.
The property has multiple ceremony options: under the old oak tree (yes, it’s as good as it sounds), waterfront, or inside with those oversized windows that pull the landscape right into the room. Each space has its own character, its own light, its own feel. As a photographer, that variety means I’m never stuck shooting the same angle twice.
The cabins are a game-changer. When your wedding party is staying on-site — getting ready in the same space, waking up in the same place — the day has a different rhythm. It’s relaxed. It’s real. And the getting-ready shots from those cabins? Unreal. Full kitchens, hot tubs, fire pits. Your people aren’t scattered across three different Marriotts in Columbus — they’re all right there, in it together.

Here’s what I want you to know about showing up to a Retreat 21 wedding with me behind the camera: I’m not going to line you up in front of a barn and call it a day.
I’m going to use every inch of that property. The vineyard rows. The waterfront. The cabin porches. The meadow at golden hour when the light hits just right. The Tap House when the reception is in full swing and people aren’t performing anymore — they’re just there.
I shoot Retreat 21 weddings for the in-between moments. The way you look at each other when you think no one’s watching. The chaos of first looks and the quiet after. The dance floor when the speeches are over and everyone finally lets go. That’s where the real stuff lives, and that’s what I’m after.

As a Columbus wedding photographer who’s shot at Retreat 21, here’s what I’d tell every couple booking this venue:
Build in golden hour time. Seriously. The meadows and vineyard at Retreat 21 during the last 45 minutes of daylight are something you don’t want to miss. Block it off on your timeline. You’ll thank yourself later.
Use the cabins for getting ready. I know it’s tempting to get ready somewhere else and just arrive, but staying on property means more time, less stress, and so much better content from your morning.
Don’t underestimate the grounds. Retreat 21 is 64 acres. If your ceremony ends at 5:30, we can walk five minutes and be completely alone in the middle of a vineyard for portraits. That’s not something every Columbus venue can offer.
Let your night shots happen. Retreat 21 has incredible atmosphere after dark. String lights, fire pits, the Tap House glowing from inside — your reception photos will hit different if you let me stay through the energy of the night.

I’m not going to soft-sell you. My style is bold, editorial, and raw. I’m not here to pose you into stiff portraits that don’t look like you. I’m here to direct you through real moments — to be your hype woman, your creative director, your safe space on the most high-energy day of your life.
If you’re booking Retreat 21, you already know you don’t want a basic wedding. You want presence. You want your photos to feel alive when you look at them in ten years. That’s exactly what I deliver.
