Downtown Columbus has no shortage of wedding venues. But when you walk into The Westin Great Southern Columbus and step into that Grand Ballroom — the stained glass, the marble floors, the ceiling height that makes everything feel like it means something — you stop comparing.
This place has presence. And presence is exactly what I shoot.
I’m Jaclyn, founder of Jac Creative Co., a Columbus, Ohio wedding photographer. I’ve shot weddings at The Westin Great Southern Columbus, and I’ll tell you straight: it’s one of the most photogenic venues in the city. Not because it’s ornate (though it is), but because the architecture gives you something to work with at every angle.
Built in 1897, The Westin Great Southern is one of downtown Columbus’s most historic hotels — and the Grand Ballroom shows every bit of that history in the best possible way. We’re talking tall ceilings, floor-to-ceiling mirrors, stained glass windows, and marble flooring that catches light differently depending on the time of day.
The venue accommodates up to 300 guests and offers multiple event spaces including the Grand Ballroom and the more intimate Seneca Room, so the scale of your wedding can actually match the space. For couples who want that downtown Columbus energy — walkable to Short North, close to the action, an experience from start to finish — The Westin delivers without having to choose between style and substance.
And the suites? Your getting-ready photos in a Westin suite hit different when the light is coming through floor-to-ceiling windows in downtown Columbus.

Hotel weddings are their own thing. The flow is different. The light is different. The challenge is making a space that hundreds of couples have used feel completely, distinctly yours — and that’s where I come in.
At The Westin Great Southern, I’m looking for the angles that don’t look like every other Columbus ballroom shot. I’m using the mirrors. I’m finding the detail moments — the stained glass reflected in a champagne glass, the marble floor during your first dance when everyone’s watching, the chaos of a packed dance floor at 10pm when no one’s performing anymore.
I shoot hotel weddings with the same mentality I bring to every wedding: directional, intentional, and fully present. I’m not standing in the corner documenting your day from a safe distance. I’m in it. I’m watching, anticipating, moving — and I’m going to bring out a side of you that you didn’t know could be captured on a wedding day.

One thing people sleep on when booking The Westin? The location.
You’re in the heart of downtown Columbus. That means we have options. Before your reception kicks off, we can slip outside for portraits on High Street. We can find architecture, texture, and a completely different visual story than what’s inside the ballroom. Urban editorial portraits against the backdrop of downtown Columbus are a vibe that you simply cannot get at a countryside venue — and if that energy matches you as a couple, we should absolutely use it.
I know downtown Columbus. I know where the light hits, which blocks give you graphic backgrounds without visual noise, and how to make two people look completely at ease in the middle of a city. That’s part of what you get when you book a Columbus-based photographer who actually knows the city.

Start in the suite. The Westin’s hotel suites are built for getting-ready coverage. Natural light, room to move, a space that feels elevated — don’t rush this part of the day. The getting-ready portraits here set the tone for everything.
Use the Grand Ballroom before guests arrive. If we can get 15-20 minutes in the ballroom before it fills up, the portraits we get with that marble and those mirrors will stop people mid-scroll. Talk to your coordinator about building this into your timeline.
Consider a downtown portrait session. After your ceremony and before your reception fully kicks off, we have a window. Let’s use it. A quick walk outside for portraits with downtown Columbus as your backdrop adds a completely different energy to your gallery.
Don’t cut your reception coverage short. The Westin dance floors get alive. Some of the best photos of the entire day happen after 9pm when everyone lets go. Keep me there.

My style is bold and editorial. I’m not soft. I’m not here to give you a gallery full of posed portraits that look like everyone else’s wedding photos. I’m here to give you images that have energy — that feel like you actually lived inside that day, not just showed up for it.
I work with couples who are confident, expressive, and ready to fully commit to the experience. I guide you through everything. I’m your hype woman, your director, and your safe space all at once. By the end of your wedding day, I promise you won’t feel like we were strangers — and your photos will show it.
